The Mighty Maisie

Something strange is happening to Maisie Clark. The porch of her Western New York trailer home has somehow been transformed into an impenetrable haven for those in need. When asked what she thinks is the cause, Maisie’s explanation is entirely implausible, laughable even, and no one believes her. As tensions rise between Maisie and her friends, the presence of newcomer Penny starts a chain reaction forcing everyone to question the limits of what they’re willing to believe, and the very nature of belief itself.”

716 playwright Bella Poynton brings another sci-fi tale to the stage. A runner up for the 2019 Maxim Mazumdar New Play Competition, “The Mighty Maisie” features Poynton’s signature genre bending, world building, and clever, cerebral dialogue, found in previous works such as “Speed of Light,” “Medusa Undone,” and “The A.I. at Delphi. ”The Mighty Maisie" will feature the directorial hand of Buffalo theater legend, Kelli Natale, whose last effort at ART/WNY saw her 2018 guidance over Sam Shepard’s “Fool for Love”.
