The Mental Health Crisis in Emerging Adults: Treatment Considerations

Please join Arete Counseling Services for a continuing education and networking event. Social workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and other providers in the mental health field are encouraged to join for a learning opportunity and to meet your colleagues. Coffee and light breakfast will be served.

The presentation offers perspectives on how practitioners can work with young adult clients to cultivate self-awareness, practice non-judgment and build psychological flexibility. Focus is placed on values-based action in service of self discovery and increasing autonomy. These approaches empower emerging adults to navigate the complexities of this life stage and build meaningful experiences, even in the face of ongoing challenges.

Learning objectives include:

• Identify developmental markers associated with Emerging Adulthood and discuss how this life stage factors into mental health challenges.
• Identify the generational qualities of Gen Z, how they intersect with Emerging Adulthood and how these qualities contribute to anxiety, avoidance, loneliness, and disrupt age-appropriate developmental accomplishments.
• Learn third-wave CBT clinical interventions based on DBT and ACT that are appropriate for treating Gen Z Emerging Adults struggling with mental health challenges.
• Earn 1.5 hours of NBCC continuing education
