The Marvel from Marple Exhibition Launch

Stockroom is delighted to invite you to the opening of The Marvel from Marple, an exhibition celebrating the life and work of Marple‑born artist Alan Boyson (1930–2018).

Spanning sculptural concrete, ceramics and murals embedded within civic spaces, the exhibition explores Boyson’s influential contribution to British post‑war public art — including his iconic 1965 geometric screens surrounding Stockport’s Merseyway Shopping Centre.

Led by artist Esther Johnson, The Marvel from Marple brings together original artworks, photographs, alongside a multi‑screen film installation reflecting on public art, place and identity.

We’ll be joined by local DJ Andy Votel, to help us open the exhibition in style.
