This swing-heavy trio features Martin Jenkins on piano, Jim Rintoul on bass and Toby Perret on drums. They play many of Martin’s own Monk-inspired compositions, originally written back when he was part of Bristol-based jazz quartet Freight, with Craig Crofton. Reworking them in a piano trio setting has given the music a new lease of life, driven by the dynamism of this exciting lineup.
Now based in Devon, Martin is a much sought after pianist and Hammond organist in the South West. His passion for jazz, Latin and reggae music in particular has seen him headlining festivals all over the UK and Europe, working with an array of artists including The Rhythm-ites, Radical Dance Faction, Delroy O'Gilvie (Black Roots), The Haggis Horns, Roger Beaujolais, Steve Waterman, Tina May and Dockside Latin Orchestra to name a few, and performs regularly with the Neil Burns Organ Trio.
Jim Rintoul is a busy freelancer on double and electric bass playing Jazz, Classical and lots of styles in between.
Recently gaining his ABRSM classical solo diploma with Distinction.
He has lived and worked in Japan, Australia, New York and now back in Devon where he grew up.
Toby Perret is usually found playing with synth-jazzers Hippo, with airplay on Jamie Cullum’s Radio 2 show and gigs in the UK (Ronnie Scotts and various jazz festivals) and abroad.
He also enjoys the blue note style, and plays a monthly residency with the Manuals of Fire hammond trio in Bristol.
