The Many Faces of PPIE

This workshop is a collaborative learning opportunity for all scientific and clinical researchers across a range of cancer research disciplines.

This workshop aims to be the first in a series which focus on sharing best practice, to develop skills, and solve problems when working with patient and public contributors.

In this workshop, we are focusing on three broad thermes:

• Benefit to patients and reporting back results
• Practicalities of embedding PPIE in research – keeping good relationship, budget
• Contextualising PPIE within wider research schemes

PPIE is a field which can look very different to a range of disciplines. As a result, researchers approach their work very differently and therefore have accumulated a wide breadth of experience.

On the other hand, some researchers encounter problems with their PPIE work, such as how to start, feeling underskilled/underprepared to deliver on aspects of their work. In reality, this part of the research process is complicated, and so we are bringing together a group to share experience and help solve problems collectively.

The day is structured to maximise networking and learning, as well as hearing from people with some PPIE experience:

• A range of presentations (speakers TBC) 10 – 15 minute presentations
• Small table discussions with rotating speakers
• The opportunity to 'bring a project' so we can learn more about your work, and possibly help with any problems you may have
