About this Event

Step into the elegance of the early 20th century with an evening that blends the architectural beauty of El Paso’s first historic district with the lingering whispers of its past. This immersive experience in the Manhattan Heights Historic District offers a perfect balance of local lore, creative magic, and a serene twilight atmosphere.

Event Schedule

The Twilight Picnic & Spell Bottle Crafting (6:30pm - 7:00pm)

Before the sun dips below the Franklin Mountains, join us for a relaxing Twilight Picnic. Spread your blankets among the lush greenery and enjoy treats & drinks as the neighborhood’s vintage streetlights begin to glow.

During the picnic, we will host a hands-on Spell Bottle Crafting workshop. Drawing from traditional folk magic, you will be guided in creating your own "intention jar."

The Craft: Using a curated selection of dried herbs and symbolic ingredients, you'll layer your intentions into a decorative glass vessel. The Intent: Whether you are seeking protection, prosperity, or a bit of luck, you'll seal your bottle to "lock in" the energy before the walk begins.

The History & Mystery Ghost Tour (7:00pm - 8:30pm)

As darkness falls, we transition from the picnic to the pavement. We will wander the winding, tree-lined streets of Manhattan Heights—an area built atop the ruins of the old Federal Copper Company smelter.

Architectural Marvels: Admire the stunning Spanish Colonial Revival and Prairie School homes designed by legendary architects like Mabel Welch and Otto Thorman.

The History: Discover why the streets carry names like Copper, Silver, and Gold, and hear the stories of the prominent El Pasoans who shaped this "Hilltop Garden" neighborhood.

The Mystery: Beneath the neighborhood's quiet dignity lie tales of the unexplained. We’ll share local legends, from the echoes of the old smelter crews to the restless spirits said to still inhabit some of the district’s most majestic estates.
