The Manchester Ball is an independent fundraising dinner dance, generously supported by local business, industry, and the professional community. We pride ourselves on hosting a professional, yet relaxed evening, whilst raising awareness and funds for our chosen charities, and bringing you fantastic entertainment for a fun packed evening.In 2023, we raised an astonishing £79,530 for both the Manchester Youth Zone and HideOut
Youth Zones, enabling them to continue the transformative work they do for children and young people in Manchester. Thank you for your kind and generous support!
This year, we are continuing to support Manchester Youth Zone, and will also be supporting EMPOWER Youth Zones – the overarching charity for HideOut Youth Zone and SYZ (Salford Youth Zone). Youth Zones transforming the lives and empowering the future generation of Manchester and Salford.
Both Manchester and Hideout Youth Zones work hard to give every young person a chance to find their passion and their purpose, empowering them to reach their full potential and to lead happy healthy, safe and successful lives.
The Youth Zone’s offer a universal core offer which includes extensive programme’s including sports, creative arts, music, essential life skills, all of which have the aim of:
• Building confidence and resilience in Young People
• Supporting them to achieve their goals and ambitions
• Providing somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to
Impact and progress at Manchester Youth Zone and HideOut Youth Zone:
Manchester Youth Zone has been now been open 12 years and, in that time, has engaged with over 10,000 young people and families from across North Manchester taking part in varied initiatives from sports and employability to Art and outdoor education offering them all somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
In 2023, HideOut Youth Zone proudly boasted a membership exceeding 6,000, a testament to the remarkable strides made in positively impacting the lives of children and young people. This growing number signifies the creation of a safe and inclusive haven, where thousands find solace, support, and opportunities to thrive.
Diversity Celebration:
At Manchester and HideOut Youth Zone, diversity isn't just embraced; it's celebrated. A remarkable 70% of members identify as Black, Asian, or from another minority group. Here, every young individual finds unwavering support, understanding, and a profound sense of belonging.
Inclusive Support:
Both Youth Zones stand as beacons of inclusivity, providing specialized support and tailored activities for 20% of members with disabilities or additional needs. They ensure that every individual, regardless of their unique requirements, can flourish.
Financial Support for Families:
In their commitment to breaking down financial barriers, HideOut Youth Zone ensure accessibility for all. At a nominal cost of just 50p per visit, inclusive of a free hot meal, they support young people from families facing financial challenges, enabling every child to engage in enriching activities and form lasting connections within our community.
Manchester Youth Zone provides free membership as well as free hot meals for all its members at a time when this support is needed across society. In the last 12 months this has resulted in over 40,000 hot meals being given to young people.
Both Youth Zones are places where young people can grow and develop; they make friends, find a listening ear, and create a support network. New experiences are offered, horizons broadened, expectations stretched, and aspirations raised, all motivating and empowering young people to forge a better future and achieve their full potential.
Key Youth Zone Statistics:
• Over 9000 members
• 90% of members live in the 20% most deprived areas of the UK
• 1,000 average visits per week
• 450 hot meals are provided per week
• 20% of active members have a disability or an additional need
• 70% of members identify as black, Asian or minority ethnic groups
Donations from The Manchester Ball 2024 will help fund various projects and activities that enable children and young people to take part in life changing opportunities and experiences.
