The St. Charles Center for Faith+Action and Repair the Breach NOLA present Antonio Rocha and The Malaga Ship on Friday evening, April 11 at 7 pm at the St. Charles Center for Faith+Action, 7100 St. Charles Avenue.
is a one person show about the Malaga Ship which was built in Maine where storyteller, mime, playwrite and actor, Antonio Rocha now lives. The Malaga was used in the illegal transatlantic trade of African captives to the Americas, especially Brazil, where Antonio was raised. There will be a discussion with Rocha following the performance.
Tickets are available for a recommended donation of $20. VIP tickets are also available for $100 and will include a VIP reception with Antonio after the performance and discussion.
Donations and sponsorships are welcome. Donations may be made to the St Charles Center for Faith+Action, please note they are for The Malaga Ship. For sponsorships please reach out to [email protected]. Receipts from tickets, donations and sponsorships with be used to defray the costs of bringing Mr Rocha and The Malaga Ship to New Orleans. Any income above those costs will be split to support the work of St Charles Center for Faith+Action and Repair the Breach NOLA.
