THE MACOHA ABYSS AND THE UNDERGROUND PUNKVA RIVER. A place where it’s better not look down!WE’RE GOING ON APRIL 5TH
In the very heart of Moravia lies one of the most mysterious natural abysses in Europe - the Macocha Abyss.
Its depth is more than 138 meters, and if you walk to its edge, it feels as if the ground simply disappears from under your feet.
But the most amazing thing is hidden underground.
Deep in the karst caves, the underground Punkva River flows. For centuries, it has been carving the rocks, creating an entire world of caves, stalactites, and underground lakes.
Today, you can take a boat ride on this river right inside the mountain. The silence, the dark water, the stone arches above your head... Get a feel for the atmosphere through the video! 😲
It feels like you’ve entered another world.
And an ancient legend lives on above the abyss.
They say that a stepmother once pushed her stepson into it.
But fate turned against her - and the abyss was named Macocha, which in Czech means ‘stepmother’.
The boy miraculously survived.
And the place forever remained a symbol of mystery, depth, and human stories.
And yes...
if you think the Czech Republic is just Prague, then you just haven’t been here yet.
