The Longest Table Duxbury
About this Event
We live in a moment of deep disconnection, but community isn’t something we talk about—it’s something we create together. The Longest Table is a free, open-air community event designed to bring neighbors together for a shared meal, conversation, and real connection.
Originally created in 2022 by Maryam Banikarim and Andrew Lerner (NYCNext), this national movement turns public spaces into shared dining rooms. No speeches, no agendas—just neighbors, food, and a couple of hours to remember what community feels like.
This autumn, we are setting a continuous, elegant table across the Stewart Family Foundation Community Garden Plot. We are providing the tables, chairs, white tablecloths, and candles; you bring a dish, a friend, and yourself.
Event Flow:
- Appetizers & Mingling: Arrive, connect with neighbors, and enjoy the garden setting.
- Shared Late Lunch: Gather at designated table sections styled by local volunteer hosts.
- Community Dessert: Reconnect with the broader group over coffee and cake.
