“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” The songs of Christmas all tell us so. Festive lights and foods and gatherings abound. Our songs declare that the Christ Child is born and all of His followers are to be joyful and that the world is joy-filled and all heaven and nature sing. Yet for many of us, no matter how many lights surround us or how deep is our faith, our spirits are bowed under the weight of grief or loss or even despair and hopelessness.Whether it’s death of a loved one, an empty nest, a divorce, a terminal illness, addiction, family conflict, dementia, bankruptcy, etc. Grief and loss come in many forms, and Christmas celebrations are often just another source of pain.
The Longest Night (or Blue Christmas) service is a safe place to gather, be seen and encounter the comfort and love of Jesus. Join us on Dec. 21, 6 p.m.
