Christmas always seems to be accompanied by jolly songs and the expectation that you will be happy and have a good time. But that’s not how it feels for many people. Maybe your year has been hard – for whatever reason (you've lost someone you love, lost a job, made a major change in life, or you're just plain tired) and Christmas seems to highlight the difficulties. Or maybe in an overly-busy life, you just want a quiet space to reflect, recall and regroup. Whatever the reason, whatever the need, you are invited to The Longest Night: A Service of Healing and Hope in the Midst of Darkness. On Thursday, December 18, the First Presbyterian Church sanctuary, darkened and only dimly-lit, will be open at 5:30pm for silent prayer. At 6:00pm leaders from First Presbyterian will lead a brief service of prayer and promise, with music, Scripture readings, and the Lord's Supper. When the service is over, you can stay as long as you need for prayer and silence, and leave when you are ready. This is a chance to slow down, quiet your heart and mind, rest in the presence of Christ, and find the hope of the season for your own story. We hope you will join us.
