I'm very passionate about this and have to share. I'm working on a fundraiser featuring one of my favorite activities – memory keeping, aka scrapbooking! I heard about The Longest Day event with the Alzheimer’s Association and feel compelled to do it. The Longest Day event is in June (the month with the longest sunshine) and we will fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s and other dementias with our donations toward the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. We also will work on memory projects.
What can you do here?
* Bring a box of photos, to organize them, write notes on them
* Create a simple photo album or paper scrapbook album(s) that reminds the memory impaired person of their favorites and family. Instructors available to assist.
* Genealogy projects: get photos organized with sticky notes on the back to ask family members about them.
* Another cool thing to do is to make a little book to remind the patient and their caregivers of what kind of person they have been.
The Longest Day Event
When: Saturday, June 29, 2024 12 noon to 4 pm
Where: The House: A Local Church 2623 5th Ave, Rock Island, IL
Why: It will be an afternoon where we can visit, snack, work on our project in a place with friendship, and space to work with no interruptions.
Cost: $25.00
What is include in your cost?
Space to work, photo safe pen and sticky notepad, snacks, use of basic tools – scissors, punches, paper.
Available for purchase will be simple photo albums, paper albums, tape runner adhesive, stickers.
75% of the proceeds will go to Alzheimer's Association.
