About this Event
A weekend for crafters who want to make slowly.
Most of us love our craft and rarely give it the time it deserves. There's always something more pressing — and when we do sit down to sew, knit, embroider, or finish that long-promised project, we're half-there. Phone buzzing. Mind racing. The hour ends and we've barely begun.
The Long Table Retreat is a different kind of weekend.
For two full days, ten of us will gather at Qwirk Coworking in downtown Columbus to do one thing: make, together, slowly. There's structure when you want it and space when you don't. There's no expectation to produce anything in particular — only an invitation to be fully present with whatever you're making.
Two full days at the long table.
Saturday and Sunday, nine to five, in a quiet downtown room with a wall of brick and good afternoon light. Ten makers, one long table, no agenda beyond the ones our hands write.
You bring whatever you're making — sewing, knitting, embroidery, mending, hand quilting, weaving, paper craft. If your hands love it and you can do it at a table, it belongs here. Beginner or longtime maker; experienced or completely new to this kind of weekend. You are welcome.
How the days move
Each day moves in three rhythms, repeated.
Workshops — Guided segments where we work on a shared technique together (determined by what the group wants ahead of time). Approachable. Optional. Something to stretch the hands or the eye.
Open Studio — Long, generous stretches for whatever you bring. The half-finished quilt. The mending pile. The thing you've been wanting to start.
Settling In — Short practices threaded through the day to help you arrive. A few minutes of breath, a quiet pause, the time it takes for the world to recede. No background in meditation required.
