The film will screen at Stone Harbor’s Harbor Square Theater, and will be followed by a Q&A with film star Michael Baiada and filmmaker Emma Baiada, moderated by Patty Malloy.
THE LONG HAUL tells the story of retired commercial airline pilot Captain R. Michael Baiada and his 40 year fight–against the very industry that employed him–to improve on-time performance, reduce emissions, and increase efficiencies in the system.

About the Participants:
Captain R. Michael Baiada has 40 years and over 30,000 hours of flying experience and holds BS degrees in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration, Rutgers University. Since the 1970s, Captain Baiada has worked extensively on airline operational and ATC/airspace issues. He co-authored the 1994 Free Flight analysis, testifying to Congress on ATC issues (8/94), and is President of ATH Group, Inc., whose vision is to dramatically reduce the airline industry’s “day of” delays, congestion and excess CO2, by applying an Airline Centric, business focused, aircraft by aircraft solution to the random point overloads to solve this problem.
Emma Baiada (b. 1992, New Jersey, USA) makes films from life. Inspired by the traditions of observational documentary, her work relies on simple uses of video and audio to witness deep ways of being. Her work has been supported by California Humanities and DOC NYC, and has screened at the Slamdance Film Festival, Mimesis Documentary Festival, San Francisco Documentary Festival, Buffalo International Film Festival, Sun Valley Film Festival, Philadelphia Film Festival, Emergence LA, and more.
Patty Malloy has been honored by several journalism awards including a two time recipient of Dartmouth’s Champion Tuck Award for economic reporting. She reported and anchored for CBS affiliated stations prior to attending law school. More recently she served as an Assistant Attorney General Florida Multistate Bureau Chief for national privacy related matters.
