About this Event

Hidden in a crawlspace at Switchboard, the UK’s queer helpline founded in 1974, were dozens of log books kept by volunteers documenting thousands of calls: a young person thrown out for their gender expression, a lesbian afraid of losing her child, a man arrested for chatting up another man, someone asking how to come out.

In The Log Books, Tash Walker and Adam Zmith recover these records of queer lives and listening, created during the era of Section 28. Join Tash and Adam in conversation with City Lit Principal Mark Malcomson to hear about their work to bring marginalised lives from the margins into the foreground of our national story.
