The Living Canvas Experience (Performance)

Photographer Pete Guither has specialized in photography of the body as canvas since 1986, using the texture of projected images, along with light and shadow, to capture the intricacies and expressiveness of the nude form.

In 2001, performances were born.

To celebrate these special anniversaries, Guither has curated a special photography exhibit and performance event that spans those 40 years.

The photography exhibit runs from July 30 through August 8 (no tickets required, donations will be accepted at the door).

There are two special Living Canvas performances scheduled for Friday, August 7 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Both take place at Bramble Arts Loft in Chicago — 5545 North Clark Street, 2nd Floor, Chicago, Illinois.

Note: The Living Canvas contains nudity.

The performances are a phone-free event. You will be asked to put your phone on silent and place it in a Yondr pouch. Your phone will be safely locked in the pouch and you will hold onto it for the duration of the event. Your phone will be unlocked at the end of the event.

Guither's award-winning work has been featured online and presented in various galleries and publications, as well as a United Nations presentation (“Furrows and Deltas: The Erogenous Zones of Mother Earth”). His extensive background includes theatre, dance, visual arts, arts technology and music.
