Based on the beloved children's book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince is a profound fable about childhood, adulthood, love, and loss. First performed at Houston Grand Opera in 2003, this operatic adaptation is the rare work of art that provides solace to both young and old alike. When a pilot crashes in the middle of an African desert, he encounters the mysterious Little Prince. What began as an awkward meeting in a moment of crisis, becomes a lasting friendship as the Little Prince shares his life and interstellar adventures as they work together to get back home. Both joyful and melancholy, childlike and wise, this opera perfectly encapsulates The Little Prince, and its adventurous harmonies and rapturous melodies. Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince has been translated into nearly every language and speaks as clearly to us today as it did when it was published in 1943. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Sung in English with English Surtitles.
