Join us for a magical Matariki Market at Coronation Park, Mount Maunganui from 9am–2pm, as we come together to celebrate community, creativity, and the Māori New Year ✨
Spend the day exploring a vibrant lineup of local artisans, designers, makers, and creatives, alongside delicious street food, live music, lawn games, workshops, and plenty more for the whole whānau to enjoy.
This year we’re excited to be collaborating with Te Puna I Rangiriri Trust to bring some truly special Matariki experiences to the market. Step inside the immersive Star Dome Observatory, a 360-degree indoor digital planetarium with presenter-led sessions exploring the stars and the significance of Matariki. Sessions will run throughout the day, with online registrations available and limited walk-ins on the day.
You can also take part in Manu Horewai traditional kite-building workshops, open to all ages with no registration required. These hands-on workshops are a beautiful opportunity to learn about the stories and traditions behind traditional Māori kite making.
Bring your friends, your whānau, and your picnic blanket, it’s the perfect way to spend a winter’s day in the Mount 💛
