About our show:
Ginger Leigh, John Pointer, and Jenuine Cello unite for a genre-bending performance that blends powerhouse vocals, rich harmonies, and daring musical innovation. Ginger Leigh brings her soulful, emotional depth and fierce edge (think Joan Jett meets Adele), delivering an intimate yet electrifying presence shaped by 10 albums and worldwide touring.
Joining her is Austin multi-instrumentalist John Pointer, whose dynamic range as a vocalist, beatboxer, guitarist, and cellist—along with credits spanning musical theatre, commercial work, and his touring groups Trio Los Vigilantes and The House Jacks—adds rhythmic fire and refined artistry.
Rounding out the trio is Jenuine Cello, whose spontaneous, loop-driven soundscapes fuse classical roots with blues, reggae, EDM, and raw vocal percussion, creating immersive sonic journeys that feel both ancient and experimental. Together, these three Texas-based artists craft an unforgettable, genre-crossing experience that is as heartfelt as it is wildly creative.

"The Listening Sessions on SPI" is the Rio Grande Valley's only monthly music series of its kind. Surrounded by art and stillness, the performances transform The Art Lounge's gallery into a shared listening sanctuary, offering music and art enthusiasts the chance to gather in a space intentionally curated for an immersive experience.
Host and Cellist-in-residence Jen Mulhern (aka Jenuine Cello) is joined monthly by a fluid lineup of musicians from varied traditions, with an emphasis on versatility, collaboration and emotional connection. Won't you join us in the listening room?
