Join us for one night only at The Art Lounge to witness Alter Ego, an immersive concert experience featuring visual artistry, soul-stirring storytelling and brand-new songwriting by our Listening Sessions host Jenuine Cello. With an ode to the typical collaborative spirit of The Listening Sessions Series, Ms. Mulhern invites the audience to journey through the emotional landscapes that shape who we are and how we present ourselves in the world. This captivating performance will feature original compositions and new music for voice, cello and looper that explore the complex and multifaceted nature of human identity.
Alter Ego will not only celebrate the beauty of self-expression but also provide a deep, introspective look at the many faces we wear in our daily lives. Come witness an evening where sound, vision, and emotion collide—an exploration of self through the language of music.

Native Texan Jen Mulhern is Jenuine Cello: a seasoned performer, looper, improviser and songwriter who has taken her traditional classical training in a new and exciting direction. Equipped with a cello and a voice, a Boss RC300 Loopstation, a 6-string NS electric cello, a Di Gregorio Centaur electric cajon, and a knack for glitchy beat-boxing, Jenuine dedicates her looped compositions to improvised form and content rather than rehearsed replication. Her live recordings and performances take listeners on a road trip free from genre, saturated with an array of influences. With undercurrents of Bach, blues, reggae, EDM and everything in between, Jen's music combines classically infused inspiration with raw textures to create a unique sound of layered soulful puzzle pieces. While the audience 'eavesdrops' from the very first hints of sound, Jenuine Cello creates a symphony of spontaneous sound painting that tugs at the soul and awakens an ancient desire to howl at the moon...
In addition to curating The Listening Sessons on SPI, she released a new full-length album in April of 2024 entitled ‘Loopholes.’ Jenuine performs regularly across Texas as a solo cello looper and in various symphony orchestras during the year and travels to perform in her second home, Buffalo, NY for the summer months.
