Join us for the Season Premiere of The Listening Sessions as we welcome our host and curator, Jenuine Cello, back to Texas for her first solo performance at The Art Lounge. A self-described “one-woman cello army,” Jen Mulhern loops and layers unique string harmonies that she creates live in front of the audience. Using the cello like a guitar, bass and drum, Jenuine achieves a full symphonic backdrop to accompany her powerful, emotive vocals. The performance will feature both original and contemporary music arranged for cello, looper and voice.
About Performer:
Jen Mulhern, known as Jenuine Cello and Texas native, is a versatile performer blending classical training with modern creativity. Equipped with both acoustic and electric cello, her voice, a looper, a cajon, and a knack for glitchy beat-boxing, she crafts spontaneous, genre-blending compositions that range from Bach to EDM. Her live performances, characterized by their improvised nature and rich, layered textures, offer a unique and soulful experience.
In addition to curating The Listening Sessons on SPI, she released a new full-length album in April of 2024 entitled ‘Loopholes.’ Jenuine regularly performs across Texas and Buffalo, NY, and also curates The Listening Sessions on SPI.
