About this Event

This project is designed as a suicide prevention and belonging-focused community artwork where participants contribute individual painted healing notes in shaped stars that are later assembled into one large mural.

Each healing note represents something that helps a person stay connected to life. Instead of focusing only on loss or crisis, the mural centers on protective factors and personal sources of meaning. Participants are invited to reflect and choose what their healing note represents from a variety of prompts.

These may include things such as people who matter to them, pets, faith or spirituality, future goals, small reasons they got through the day, memories that bring comfort, coping tools that help during hard moments, messages of encouragement to others, or what belonging feels like in their life. Participants who prefer not to write can also use colors, patterns, or symbols to express their meaning.

Together, these individual healing notes form a large night sky mural that represents a shared message of resilience, hope, and connection. The design also includes a Boston skyline to ground the project in community and a bird carrying a ribbon that says "support their belonging," which symbolizes connection and inclusion.

These would be open community sessions where participants can drop in, reflect, and paint their healing note. No art experience is required.
