Why We Golf 💛
This tournament was created in honour of Sweet Little Miss Zoe, an extraordinary little girl who inspires us every single day.
Born on October 4, 2018, Zoe has faced more challenges in her young life than most people will in a lifetime. After months spent in the hospital and extensive testing, Zoe was diagnosed as one of the very few people in the world with SLC35A2-CDG, a rare genetic disorder that affects development and multiple systems within the body.
As Zoe grows, so do the challenges. She was recently referred to her 22nd clinic at SickKids, a reminder of just how complex her care continues to be. Each year brings new hurdles, new appointments, and new decisions for her family to navigate.
This year also brings some major transitions for Zoe and her family. They will need to purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, as lifting Zoe and her wheelchair in and out of the car multiple times a day is becoming physically unsustainable. They are also beginning to plan for moving Zoe’s living space to the main floor of their home, as stairs are becoming increasingly difficult for her to manage.
Despite everything she faces, Zoe continues to shine. Her strength, determination, and joyful spirit remind everyone around her what resilience truly looks like.
She is the reason The Lemon Project exists, and the reason we continue to grow this community of support for families walking similar journeys.
