The Last Supper Party at The Sycamore

An Evening of Poetry and Music with Colleen Shoshana McKee, Olga Zilberbourg and Timothy Goodspeed curated by Kimi Sugioka and presented in collaboration with The Sycamore.
We invite our audience to share ideas and bread and find inspiration in the thoughts and words of artists and writers whose perspectives are drawn from a kaleidoscope of cultures, but who are united by compassion and a common desire to seek justice, equity and truth.
About the Artists
Colleen Shoshana McKee
Colleen is the author of seven books of poetry, memoir, and fiction, including her latest book, Feeding Ghosts, a queer, Jewish story about grief, friendship, and food. Her book Routine Bloodwork was a finalist for the Charlotte Mew Award. Colleen Shoshana teaches English to creative writers and immigrants, who are sometimes the same people. Olga Zilberbourg
Olga's English-language debut Like Water and Other Stories (WTAW Press) explores multicultural identity, bisexuality, and immigrant parenthood. Zilberbourg's writing has appeared in Narrative Magazine, World Literature Today, Electric Literature, Lit Hub, Chicago Quarterly Review, Confrontation, and elsewhere. Born in Leningrad, USSR, in a Russian-speaking Jewish family, she has published four books of fiction in Russian. She lives in California where she co-facilitates the San Francisco Writers Workshop and, together with Yelena Furman, runs Punctured Lines, a feminist blog about literature from the former USSR.
Timothy Goodspeed / The Soapbox Salute
The Soapbox Salute is a project that aims to bring attention to injustices in our world. From the wars we wage, to our neighbors sleeping on benches, to the children in concentration camps nothing is off limits. Timothy Goodspeed uses his striking songwriting to draw in the listener with vivid imagery and striking melodies to call in even the most stone hearted to melt with empathy.
Timothy is a musician, teacher, and father living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Kimi Sugioka (Curator)
Kimi Sugioka is a poet, songwriter, and educator. She is the current Poet Laureate for the City of Alameda, a post that includes creating platforms for the presentation of a diverse variety of poets and spoken-word artists. Kimi also performs her own work frequently throughout the Bay Area. Born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and raised in Berkeley, California, Kimi has worked in public education for decades, and earned her BA from San Francisco State University and MFA from the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
The Last Supper Party Performance Series
The Last Supper Party is a monthly spoken word and music performance series inspired by Fe Bongolan’s landmark painting of the same name; a 200 sq. ft. canvas that covered one wall of our office when we were housed on Sutter Street during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We invite our audience to share ideas and bread and find inspiration in the thoughts and words of artists and writers whose perspectives are drawn from a kaleidoscope of cultures, but who are united by compassion and a common desire to seek justice, equity and truth.
