The Last One for the Road + Wine Tasting

Francesco Sossai’s latest is an effortlessly charming and utterly delightful romp through the Italian countryside. Plus a pre-screening Italian wine tasting* hosted by our bar manager.
Carlobianchi (Sergio Romano) and Doriano (Pierpaolo Capovilla), two broke fiftysomethings with a “never skip the last drink” philosophy, meet Giulio (Filippo Scotti), a shy architecture student adrift in life. What starts as a chance encounter turns into a chaotic road trip through the Venetian plains — where bad advice, hangovers, and unexpected friendship redraw Giulio’s plans for life and love.
Loosely pulling from their own experiences, co-writers Francesco Sossai and Adriano Candiago brilliantly revive the beloved Commedia all’italiana style. Inspired by filmmakers like Marco Ferreri, Elio Petri, Francesco Rosi, and Carlo Lizzani, The Last One for the Road is an homage to special places that live in our memories — bars and streets from our youth, now demolished to make way for new development — and a call to redraw our inner maps.
Our bar manager, Helen, shall take you through two wonderful Italian wines before the film. Wines that echo the film, the character and Italy's illustrious wine making heritage. Please note spaces are limited and the wine tasting will start promptly at 6.00pm before the film begins at 6.20pm.
