Abstract

The ‘Archaeological Survey of Sudanese Nubia’ working between Gemai and Dal was completed in May 1969. The full publication of this work is however only now being achieved; a first ‘Pharaonic’ volume appearing in 2020, and a second ‘Meroitic’ volume now being completed. This lecture will present some of the highlights of the Meroitic archaeology, as well as some features of the later prehistoric (A-Group, C-Group/Kerma) archaeology.
