The King's Award for Enterprise - Young Founder category is a new royal accolade recognising exceptional entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30 who actively lead successful businesses in the UK. The award was introduced to mark the 60th anniversary of the King's Awards program.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Young Founder award, your business must meet the following baseline requirements:
- Age: You must be aged 18 to 30.
- Role: You must be actively leading and driving the growth of the business.
- Commercial Success: You must demonstrate strong growth potential, with a minimum turnover of£250,000 or documented external funding of at least £500,000
Application Process
- Self-Nomination: The King's Awards are the only UK honours system where you can nominate your own company.
- No Cap: There is no fixed limit to the number of winners; if your business meets the rigorous standards of commercial success and leadership, you can win.
- Submission: Applications and guidance can be submitted directly via the UK Government King's Awards for Enterprise portal.
Award Benefits
Winning this accolade provides highly sought-after third-party validation. Winners receive:
- The Emblem: The right to fly the King’s Awards flag and use the official royal emblem on your packaging, website, and marketing materials for five years.
- Royal Recognition: An official Grant of Appointment (certificate) and a commemorative crystal trophy, typically presented at your workplace by a Lord-Lieutenant (the King's representative).
- Networking: Invitation to a royal reception and heightened international and domestic PR opportunities.
