Power and Peril of the American DreamDr Andrew Wines returns to Christ’s Hospital Theatre for the third time with a multimedia, interactive, full-immersion extravaganza of history, literature, music and film.
Investigate with him the backstory and unfolding tale of the political titans and cultural icons who have comprised America’s ‘First Family’ for nearly a century. Ideals, charisma and courage will clash with myths and misogyny in revealing how crime and celebrity came to reside in the nation’s corridors of power.
Buckle up for a wild encounter with Sinatra, Monroe, Castro, spies, sex scandals, assassins, gangsters, ‘Camelot’, Casino Royale, civil rights struggles, anticolonial insurgencies, Cold War confrontations and the origins of the Space Race. Aspiring for the American Dream, and exemplifying the consequent nightmare, the Kennedy family provide a lens through which to view the current state of the USA.
