The June Service with choir and organ in the Pepper Canister Church

Service for June 7
St Stephen's Church of Ireland marks the First Sunday after Trinity with a range of music relecting the season. Stanford's Jubilate Deo opens the Service, a composer who is very connected with St Stephens Church as he was a chorister in this church in his boyhood chorister days. The communion setting is Missa Brevis by the contemporary composer Jonathan Dove. An exciting rhythmic Gloria sets the scene while the Sanctus is spirited and dynamic! The communion anthem is the mellow setting of Ave Verum by the Belgian Flor Peeters. The service is directed by Ven Edgar Swann.

Known fondly as the Pepper Canister due to its very distinctive copper dome, the church was designed by architect John Bowden and completed in 1825.
