The July Open Jam

A brilliant member of our group (the self proclaimed worst drummer in Charleston) suggested we have themes.
So, in honor of July let’s try to come up with some patriotic songs.
Read as: In addition to whatever song you want to play or sing (any and all songs are fair game)…also think of songs that say America, USA, fried chicken, freedom, boot in their ass, etc.
Since it seemed to work pretty well we’ll follow the online Google doc setlist so you know when you’re on, what’s next, etc. It’s a living document and things change as the night goes on. But, for the most part, it stayed true (I just needed to make sure I worked in people who hadn’t jammed, and/or needed more time to #MargChug to be ready):

For those of you who are new to this…read on:
Do you sing? Play an instrument? Looking for fellow musicians to collaborate with? Ready to take your talents out of the garage and onto the stage? Or maybe you want to show off your skills so you can get on Viva’s booking schedule? Or maybe you’re a working musician who just never has the time to hang out with your other musician friends?
Then this is your chance to come out and play a song or few and hang out!
Play solo, bring a band, and/or collaborate with any of the other musicians who show up.
No rules. All ages and all skill levels are welcome!
Think of this as a campfire jam. Someone has a guitar and starts playing a song. Someone else grabs a guitar out of their car and joins in. Someone has a harmonica in their pocket. Someone else starts tapping their glass. Ron Burgandy pulls out a jazz flute. Someone picks up a trombone. There happens to be a drum set. Etc. JUST JOIN IN. No need to wait or take turns. Just find the jam and add to it. Tag in. Tag out. It’s….open.
We’ll have the outdoor stage set up with lights, PA, microphones, a guitar and guitar amp, drum set and Viva will be providing liquid courage (the island’s best margaritas and tequila selection) for those who need/want it!
Hosted by: Rob Lowe, Rob Silverman, Scott Noonan, Dan Nobles, Alex Council, Frank Costa, and Stef Potter.
If you have any questions, just message us and we’ll get back to you. But chances are the answer will be YES!
