About this Event
Marine Fisheries
Develop practical skills that are essential in conservation careers:
- Learn how Conservation Law Enforcement protects our fisheries and coastal resources
- Master fishing methods used in research
- Practice proper fish handling techniques and species identification
- Participate in fish dissection to study anatomy and adaptations
Our summer Field Days are designed with age-appropriate activities and peer interactions in mind. We've created two distinct experiences:
Middle School Event: Recommended for rising 7th and 8th graders
This suggestion is to ensure you'll be with peers at a similar level and engage with content that matches your academic experience.
Details for the event:
• What to bring: Dress is casual. Check the weather report and dress appropriately as you will be outside.
Other items to consider bringing include sunscreen, bug spray and reusable water bottle.
• Cost: The program is free of charge.
• Weather: Programs are held rain or shine unless hazardous weather occurs. An email will be sent out day of if event needs to be canceled and the rain date will be the next day.
• Parking: There is free parking on site beside and infront of the white Marshlands house. Staff will have signs out as well as be available for parking questions.
SCDNR Marine Resources Division Public Program Event Policy- Our free public programs are in high demand and there is limited capacity, do not reserve a ticket if you cannot commit to attending this event. If an attendee cancels their ticket without a valid excuse and/or is a no show, SCDNR has the right to refuse the attendee to participate in any SCDNR public program for a year.
