JOEY TENUTO
Joey Tenuto is an international touring guitarist, vocalist and bandleader whose music brings together soulful blues, driving rock ’n’ roll and the spontaneity of live improvisation. Endorsed by Strobel Guitars, Joey brings expressive guitar playing, heartfelt vocals and a lifetime of experience to the stage, performing as a solo artist, in a duo and with The Joey Tenuto Band.
Born in Blues Land of Illinois, and based in South Florida, Joey grew up on the road with his father, blues guitarist Smokin’ Joe Tenuto. Since the age of five, Joey has been performing alongside his father in The Joe Tenuto Band, learning firsthand how to connect with an audience and tell a story through music. For Joey, music has always been a family tradition and a way of life.
His father’s musical history includes working with Eddie Snow and Carey Bell, as well as friendships with artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory Gallagher and Albert Collins. Growing up around that world gave Joey a deep appreciation for the blues and the musicians who helped shape it. He carries that foundation into his own performances while developing a sound and identity of his own.
Over the years, Joey has performed with musicians including Jan Błędowski of Krzak, Sebastian Riedel of Cree, Muggy Doo, known for his work with Buddy Miles, and Corky Laing of Mountain. These musical connections reflect Joey’s love of collaboration and his enthusiasm for bringing different generations and backgrounds together onstage.
Joey’s touring has taken him throughout the United States and Europe, performing in clubs, at festivals and in communities where live music brings people together. His European travels have helped build lasting relationships with musicians, venue owners and audiences across France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Poland. Whether returning to a familiar club or playing a town for the first time, Joey approaches every show with the same goal: to make a connection and give the audience a performance to remember.
At home in South Florida, Joey remains active in the local music community, including hosting the weekly open jam at Igot’s Martiki Bar in Lake Worth Beach. These gatherings give musicians a place to share the stage, exchange ideas and keep the spirit of live blues and rock ’n’ roll moving forward.
Joey also takes pride in his Italian heritage, with family roots in Rende, in the province of Cosenza, Calabria. Family, travel and music remain closely intertwined in his life, shaping both his outlook and the experiences he brings to his performances.
