James Lockwood is a pianist and multi-instrumentalist performing in the Bebop tradition pioneered in mid-twentieth century New York.Inspired by the improvisational styles of jazz luminaries Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, and Barry Harris, Lockwood explores the unique harmonic and rhythmic language of the Bebop masters in the classic format of alto saxophone, piano, upright bass, and drumkit.
The James Lockwood Quartet performs music from the pens of Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, and others in addition to works of The Great American Songbook in the quintessential style of the great Bebop groups of the 1940’s.
The James Lockwood Quartet is pleased to be appearing for the first time at Soundworks Bar, Brunswick, from 8:00 pm Saturday March 21st. Tickets are available via the event link for $20.
