Housed in a former Monastery at Colmar, Alsace, this mysterious world masterpiece was painted by the German artist Grünewald between 1512 and 1516.
It is a huge polyptych, seen by 300,000 visitors every year, and has inspired artist as varied as Holbein, Sutherland, Picasso, and the German Expressionists. Join Val Woodgate, Tate Lecturer, to learn more.
