Howell Park in Germantown is home to several trees on the PA state champion tree register - the 9th largest sassafras tree in the state and the 3rd largest chestnut oak in the state (nicknamed "Grandma" by nearby neighbors). Aaron Greenberg, State Coordinator of the PA Champion Tree Program, will give a talk about the ecological, cultural, and public health value that big trees provide. He will also discuss the best ways to care for and protect these majestic trees. This event will be hosted by the Friends of Howell Park and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation.
