In the calm that settles after chaos, the landscape becomes a place where serenity and purpose come back into view. Dennis Maloney, a veteran and painter, presents a collection drawn from five years of exploring landscape painting. It reflects the progression of how a hobby became a purposeful daily practice and a new identity. These works live in that quiet space after the storm has passed. A moment when the light opens, the air feels clean, and it becomes possible to breathe without tension. In that space serenity is not an ornament. It is something earned. And purpose is not forced. It is something discovered in the land itself.
Visitors will see early paintings with aggressive marks, dense layering, and high intensity color that almost pushes into a psychedelic register. Later works move toward more naturalistic palettes, clearer drawing, and calmer compositions. Across the sequence the paintings shift from restless experimentation to images that hold stillness and visual clarity.
Guests are warmly invited to attend the Opening Artist Reception on Friday, July 3, from 5–7 PM, celebrating the opening of The Hush After the Storm. This reception offers an opportunity to experience the exhibition in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and to engage directly with the artist and fellow community members.
The evening marks not only the opening of the exhibition, but also a moment of shared pause—an invitation to reflect on resilience, presence, and the quiet strength found in both nature and creative practice. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
The Hush After the Storm: Evoking Serenity and Purpose from the Landscape is presented at The Rising Phoenix Gallery from July 3 through August 1, 2026. Within a space dedicated to reflection, creative growth, and community engagement, this exhibition invites visitors to slow down and enter the quiet that follows turbulence—both in the land and within ourselves.
