About this Event
Humanizing research of sex differences in the immune response Immunology research has long utilized elaborate mouse models to probe complex immunological concepts. To better understand the hormone-immune interactions that drive sex differences in the immune response, we must consider the impact of menstrual cycle dynamics and menopause. Current animal models simply fail to recapitulate these key aspects of human female biology.
MIT is leading the development of Novel Alternative Methods (NAMs) and is convening a specialized Menstruation Science workshop on the hormone-immunity nexus to address the key challenges of humanizing immunology research.
