The Hooten Hallers (blues garage rock country punk jazz, Columbia Missouri)
This powerhouse trio is driven by the vocal growl and swirling electric and lap steel guitars of John Randall, the powerful drumming and falsetto howl of Andy Rehm, and the burning baritone and bass saxophone lines of Kellie Everett. It’s Morph*ne meets ZZ Top mixed with a dash of George Thorogood and Tom Waits. But anyone who has seen this band live knows that this group is unlike anything they’ve experienced before. When The Hooten Hallers come to town, you know it’s gonna be a party!
Emerging from nearly two decades worth of singalongs while racking up more than half a million miles in a van, comes The Hooten Hallers’ 7th official full length album entitled Van Jams Vol. 1, released April 3, 2026. This collection of songs both resonated with and influenced The Hooten Hallers and spans across decades of rock, punk, country, soul, R&B, and indie but are all delivered with the signature sound that fans have come to expect from the band: dueling vocals between John Randall’s powerful, gravely lows and Andy Rehm’s buttery high tenor, jangly electric guitar, Pudding drums, and soaring bass lines on the baritone sax. One could be taken aback by the pairing of Roky Erickson, David Bowie, Morph*ne, and George Jones, but the band’s wide ranging musical tastes serve to bring the listener on a strangely cohesive ride and shows just how far this trio can push the limits of what’s musically possible. This album is the embodiment of an epic road trip that has been taken and will be taken for years to come.
