About this Event
Ready to fill the gaps in your drill bit knowledge? This class takes a deep dive into the anatomy, materials, and functionality of these essential hole-making tools. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to drill down into expert-level insights, this workshop is designed to take you from novice to pro.
Taught by an experienced machinist, we’ll uncover the mysteries of drill bits:
-What They’re Made Of: Explore materials, coatings, and tip angles that make each bit unique.
-How They Work: Understand the mechanics behind cutting, boring, and piercing through different materials.
-When to Replace or Repair: Learn how to spot wear and tear before you’re left in a bind.
-Special Applications: Discover tips for tricky scenarios and uncommon uses.
Through a mix of lecture, show-and-tell demonstrations, and hands-on activities, you’ll leave with the confidence to tackle any project. Plus, you’ll get tips for avoiding common pitfalls and troubleshooting problems when the going gets tough. This is your chance to stop making drills scream, and finally get to the point. Everyone will leave with their own handmade drill bit. Perfect for makers, crafters, and engineers alike!

Instructor bio:
Brian has been in the manufacturing industry since 2012, but truth be told, he’s been a maker his whole life—if it can be built, fixed, or taken apart just to see how it works, he’s probably done it. Starting with a hands-on crash course in servicing industrial CNC machines, Brian quickly dove headfirst into the world of machining, CNC and automation engineering, molding, and just about every form of manufacturing he could get his hands on. With a passion for problem-solving and a knack for turning raw materials into something amazing, Brian loves sharing his knowledge with crafters of all skill levels.
