The History of Brooms- Make Your Own Besom
Brooms have long been woven into the folklore, traditions, and magical practices of cultures around the world. More than just household tools, besoms have served as symbols of protection, purification, boundaries, and spiritual transformation for centuries.
In this hands-on class, we will explore the fascinating history of the besom, its connection to witchcraft and folk magic, and how brooms became one of the most recognizable symbols associated with witches. We will discuss their use in household blessings, ritual cleansing, seasonal celebrations, and magical practices throughout history.
Participants will learn about the symbolism of the materials traditionally used in besom-making and the magical correspondences associated with them. Each attendee will then create and decorate their own besom to take home, crafting a meaningful ritual tool that can be used for spiritual cleansing, protection, altar work, or as a beautiful representation of their personal practice.
Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or simply curious about the history and folklore surrounding this iconic magical tool, this class offers a unique opportunity to connect with tradition while creating something both practical and magical.
