Fully experience and embody the wisdom and power of Shakespeare’s works through exploring the Hermetic philosophy of his time, led by award-winning actor, theatre-maker, and author Emily Carding.In four three-hour sessions, we will engage in practical exercises and scene work using techniques inspired by the elements, the planets, Kabalah, and alchemy, unlocking hidden layers of meaning in Shakespeare’s works and stepping into personal power as performers. Strictly limited to ten participants only.
-Connect with the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water
-Identify the use of the elements in Shakespeare’s works
-Experience the cycling through elements and how embodying them affects text and character, body, and voice.
-Find your true note, where your voice resonates most powerfully.
-Discover the meaning of the planets and how they can inform character.
-Explore the Sephiroth of the Tree of Life and see how mapping a play onto the tree can aid understanding.
-Learn the alchemical process of transformation, within the plays, our characters, and ourselves.
-Create sacred space and learn the art of invocation to become our most empowered selves
Emily Carding is a highly experienced actor, theatre-maker and writer, specializing in Shakespeare, responsive immersive theatre, and the horror genre. They hold a BA (hons) in Theatre Arts from Bretton Hall and an MFA in Staging Shakespeare from the University of Exeter. They have won multiple awards internationally for their innovative interactive approach to Shakespearean performance with Brite Theater, including Richard III (a one person show). They also have received praise from critics and audiences for their lead performances in uniquely responsive immersive experiences The Key of Dreams and The Locksmith’s Dream with Lemon Difficult.
They recently played a supporting role in the new Silent Hill film, which is due to be released in cinemas in 2025.
They are excited to finally be sharing their system of training for actors with a select few, with plans to expand in the future.
