The Hercules Project, The Persians: Lost with a Single Stroke by Aeschylus
This is an ancient Greek tragedy that tells the story of the Battle of Salamis in 480 B.C. from the perspective of the ancient Iranians who suffered a crushing defeat by the Athenians and their allies.
We invite everyone to stay for a dialogue with local veterans concerning their interpretation of the play. Our project is based on the work of VA psychiatrist Jonathan Shay who argues Greek tragedy was a form of cultural therapy of, for, and by veterans and an audience traumatized by war.
The Hercules Project is a Florida non-profit with a mission to serve veterans, first responders, and their dependents.
