Helmet of The Memory in Ireland: The Courage to Speak the Truth

A Message of Resilience and Sports Diplomacy from Ukrainian Olympian Vladyslav Heraskevych

Ireland Tour | May 2026

Join us for an exclusive community meeting with Vladyslav Heraskevych, Ukraine’s leading skeleton athlete, two-time Olympian, and a powerful global voice for sports integrity and human rights.

Vladyslav first made international headlines at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing when he silently but courageously displayed a “No to War in Ukraine” poster in front of the world’s cameras. At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, his commitment to dignity reached a major turning point. He attempted to compete in the “Helmet of Memory”—gear dedicated to Ukrainian athletes who have lost their lives during Russia’s full-scale invasion. Despite being disqualified by international sports organizations who labeled it a “political statement,” Vladyslav received widespread solidarity from the global sports community, who viewed his stance as a defense of fundamental human values.

What to Expect:
  • The Price of Truth in Elite Sports: Standing up for human rights when global organizations attempt to keep sports "neutral."
  • The Story Behind the "Helmet of Memory": A first-hand look at a symbol of honor that united athletes worldwide.
  • Resilience Beyond the Track: How Vladyslav's foundation actively promotes the development of children's and inclusive sports in Ukraine amidst the war.

📢 This is an evening about courage that transcends the athletic arena. Come meet Vladyslav in person, hear an inspiring story of sports diplomacy first-hand, and strengthen the bonds of solidarity between Ireland and Ukraine.

Admission is free, but pre-registration is required
The event is organized by the leaders of the Ukrainian community in Cork.
