About this Event
February is Heart Health Month, and SAGE is pumped to celebrate with you in a very special way! Join SAGE, as we partner with Val Woods, Nurse, CPR Instructor, and author of Team Cardiac: The Heartbeat of Heroes, for an engaging and empowering family CPR workshop.
On Saturday, February 21, we will host two dynamic CPR classes led by Woods. These classes are designed for parents, grandparents, caregivers, and children - and will be complimentary to attendees in honor of heart health awareness. This interactive experience blends storytelling, movement, and hands-on practice to teach families how to recognize cardiac emergencies, call 911, perform CPR, and safely use an AED.
Our class schedule:
11:00 AM - Infant CPR & AED Awareness Session - this class is designed for newborn parents and caregivers. The class will offer life-saving skills and focus on infant CPR, choking relief, and AED awareness in a calm, confidence-building way, allowing them to feel ready to handle real-life situations.
[Approximately 40 minutes]
12:00PM - Team Cardiac: The Heartbeat of Heroes Experience for Youth - this class will allow children to learn in an age-appropriate and encouraging manner. The special class will start with a book reading and include heart health and safety awareness in a non-scary, age-appropriate way. There will be optional hands-on practice with manikins for brave kiddos who are interested in trying the compressions.
All ages are welcome to participate in this class, starting at age 5 years old. It is required for a parent or caregiver to stay in the room for the workshop.
[Approximately 30 minutes]
All class attendees will have the opportunity to connect with Woods and purchase her book: Team Cardiac: The Heartbeat of Heroes.
A beautiful childrenβs book that turns lifesaving skills into an inspiring story of courage, teamwork, and heart health.
Children learn that heroes come in all ages and that knowing what to do in an emergency can make a real difference. The book opens the door to meaningful conversations between adults and children about helping others, staying calm, and caring for our hearts.
The story serves as the heart of the workshop, helping children connect emotionally to the skills they are learning in a safe and empowering way.

A portion of every book sold supports CPR AED certification training for youth ages 13β18 through community partnerships with local libraries, which makes this collaboration even more meaningful.
The workshops will be held in the event space located above Wild Iris Home.
And, BONUS - all event attendees will receive a 10% discount when shopping in person at SAGE Babes + Tots and Wild Iris Home that morning.
