The Buffalo Bill Museum is presenting several “women in history” events. You are invited to an all American tea party on Saturday, May 11. The topic will be the Harvey Girls.Fred Harvey built his restaurant empire along the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe rail line. Thousands of young women left their homes in the east to work in Fred Harvey restaurants. At a time when there were very few women west of the Mississippi river — Harvey Girls became the women who settled the American West.
