The Gàidhlig Effect: Lecture Miniseries

Join the Baltimore City Pipe Band and Scottish Gaelic teacher and musician Scott Morrison for a deep dive into how the Scottish Gaelic language and culture gave rise to the music we love, and how we can train our ears to hear that influence and bring it into our own playing.
The workshop will be in two parts. The first session is on Thursday, July 16 at 7pm at Perry Hall Presbyterian Church.
Session 1:
*Brief overview of Celtic history and culture
*Brief comparisons of Celtic cultural roots to classical Greco-Romano roots
*An introduction to the authentic cèilidh culture
Session 2:
*Quick intro to the Gaelic language
*Brief look at connections of Gaelic song to Instrumental tunes
*Applying Gaelic to 2-3 well known pipe/fiddle tunes and one pìobaireachd (hands on)
Admission is free, but registration is required.
