No one in New Jersey’s modern history has contributed more to elevate the stature of our state than Governor Thomas H. Kean, the 48th Governor of the State of New Jersey.

Born in 1935, Governor Kean’s journey from a dedicated educator to a transformative political leader is a testament to his unwavering commitment to unification and bipartisan problem solving. The Governor’s enduring impact on our public policies guiding environmental protection, educational integrity, economic growth and national security is unmatched. Governor Kean serves as a beacon of inspiration for those in public service, particularly in this era so wanting of greater civil discourse and meaningful collaboration.

The Governor Thomas H. Kean Leadership Award Gala, hosted by The Garden State Initiative (GSI), will be held at the Hudson House in Jersey City with panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Verrazano Bridges, and the New York City Skyline. The evening will feature tributes from luminaries acknowledging the Governor’s long-lasting contributions to our state and to our nation including his leadership of The 911 Commission which produced a comprehensive report that reshaped America’s counter-terrorism policies. We will also welcome the next generation of innovative thinkers and political leaders who will be our guests so they can be inspired by Governor Kean’s legacy.
