About the Sewing Workshop
Military life is full of seasons that demand resilience. Deployments, schools, training rotations, TDYs, long hours, and the uncertainty of Special Forces life can leave spouses balancing careers, children, family responsibilities, friendships, and countless other commitments.
The Green Thread Sewing Workshop creates an intentional space for 5th SFG (A) spouses to slow down, connect with one another, and enjoy a creative experience alongside women who understand the unique demands of Special Forces life.
During the workshop, each participant will receive a denim jacket to personalize using a variety of patches representing military life, hobbies, family, faith, humor, adventure, and personal interests. Attendees will sew and customize their jackets, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects their individual personalities and experiences.
No previous sewing or crafting experience is necessary. This workshop is designed for everyone, regardless of skill level.
Creativity, Wellness & Connection
As we create, participants will have the opportunity to engage in guided conversation around recognizing burnout, managing time and energy, establishing healthy boundaries, and using creative outlets as a way to recharge.
More importantly, the afternoon provides an opportunity to connect with other 5th SFG (A) spouses. The relationships built within The Green Thread community can become valuable sources of friendship and support through deployments, training cycles, PCS moves, emergencies, and everyday military life.
Come enjoy an afternoon of sewing, food, conversation, and community—and leave with a personalized denim jacket created by you.
