In collaboration with Florida Sea Grant and Luther’s Pontoon Rentals, the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Natural Resources team is holding The Great Bay Scallop Search on August 17, 2025 in Choctawhatchee Bay. Here is what you need to participate:
- Team of three people or more (each person on your team will need to register separtely)
- Snorkel Gear: mask, fins, snorkel, and gloves
- Access to a vessel – Don’t have one? We have limited options available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We will provide survey data sheets and materials. After check-in, teams will be assigned locations in the bay to survey 50-meter transects in a specified grid. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian.
